Walmart Opens to Amazon MCF: What This Means for Marketplace Sellers

A truck full of boxes some of which sealed with Amazon Prime tape

If you’re an Amazon seller sitting on FBA inventory, wake up: Walmart just quietly greenlit a game-changer that cracks open its marketplace to Amazon’s infrastructure.

As of now, you can use Amazon MCF (Multi-Channel Fulfillment) to fulfill Walmart orders. That’s right: the same inventory you’re already housing with Amazon can now flow to Walmart customers. This used to get you suspended. Now it’s a strategic edge.

But before you sprint into this with blinders on, let’s break it down like an operator.

The Rules of Engagement

Walmart’s not letting sellers run completely wild with MCF. Here are some guidelines you’ll still need to adhere to.

  • No Amazon-branded boxes. You’ll need to select unbranded packaging via Amazon MCF.
  • No Amazon Shipping (the trucks that have an Amazon logo on them). Only USPS, UPS, FedEx are approved. Amazon trucks are still off-limits, likely to avoid an Amazon van dropping off a Walmart order.
  • Strict SLAs. Walmart requires: 95% On-Time Delivery (OTD), 99% Valid Tracking Rate (VTR), and precise label scans that happen only after physical pickup.
  • Additional charges. MCF pricing includes a 5% surcharge when you block Amazon logistics as a shipping option.

Still, this is massive. Because operationally, it unlocks true inventory centralization. One pool, two platforms. And zero new warehouse builds.

Why This is Important for eCommerce Sellers

This is the moment to start stacking Walmart on top of Amazon. Why?

  1. Walmart is hungry. They’re opening the gates and toning down the hostility to bring in assortment. If you’ve got a strong Amazon brand, Walmart wants your SKUs on shelf—now.
  2. Faster time-to-market. You don’t need to spin up a new 3PL. Don’t need to palletize for Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS). You can test Walmart ROI with no new infrastructure.
  3. Your MCF inventory is already dialed in. Why let it sit waiting for FBA orders when it can be cross-leveraged into Walmart’s ecosystem?
  4. The multichannel algorithm boost creates brand familiarity. Your brand performs better when customers see it everywhere; Amazon, Walmart, TikTok Shop. Every touchpoint increases conversion velocity.

Where MyFBAPrep Comes In

Here’s what no one is saying: MCF isn’t always the cheapest or most flexible path. You need someone to own the logistics backend who understands Amazon, Walmart, and direct-to-consumer.

That’s us.

At MyFBAPrep, we’ve already built a warehouse network that:

  • Supports Amazon + Walmart + DTC simultaneously
  • Executes carton forwarding, FBM, and WFS-prep at scale
  • Maintains 99%+ SLA performance across all marketplaces
  • Optimizes cost structures beyond MCF when volume warrants

If you’re using FBA and testing Walmart, MCF works as a bridge. But if you’re doing any real volume, you’ll quickly outgrow it. That’s when you need us in your corner to drive scale without margin erosion.

TL;DR

  • Walmart now allows MCF, with conditions.
  • This is your moment to list and test Walmart Marketplace.
  • Use MCF for speed, MyFBAPrep for scale.
  • You can centralize inventory, reduce overhead, and hit SLAs without spinning up new ops.

If you’re an Amazon seller and not selling on Walmart by Q3, you’re going to get left behind.
