Advantages of Using Our
3PL New Jersey Warehouse

Great location, a booming population, and lower costs than New York City without sacrificing access to the market.

Strategic Location

With proximity to major metropolitan areas like New York City and Philadelphia, your 3PL New Jersey location can quickly serve some of the largest markets in the United States. A New Jersey-based warehouse is also near the Port of New York and New Jersey, one of the busiest ports in the country. That allows for easy imports from manufacturers with options to take goods directly to warehousing where they can be packaged and distributed directly to customers – with very few steps in between. Plus, with access to nearby airports like Atlantic City, Newark Liberty, Philadelphia International, and LaGuardia Airport, you’ll have clear access to warehousing no matter what you import.

Cost Efficiencies

New Jersey invests in Urban Enterprise Zones or UEZs, offering reduced sales tax rates and reduced utility rates for businesses in those zones. This means that choosing a 3PL New Jersey warehouse could directly reduce your cost of warehousing. However, with short transportation times, direct access to multiple distribution networks, and high access to labor, you can see cost-efficiencies elsewhere as well. In addition, New Jersey is a great state to leverage for other cost savings like tax exemptions for packaging material.

Efficient Shipping

From New Jersey, your goods can reach most of the East Coast within a day’s drive. That’s critical if you’re providing fast shipping options like Next Day Shipping because it means that, providing your warehouse processes orders quickly enough, you can almost always get orders to customers within 24 hours. It’s also a good central hub for distributing goods to other 3PL warehouses at strategic locations throughout the United States.

Tailored Supply Chain Solutions

With nearby access to ports, airports, railway, and some of the largest industrial parks in the United States, New Jersey offers access to every part of the supply chain. Partnering with a 3PL New Jersey provider means your choice of import/receiving, local product sourcing, packaging, warehousing, pick & pack, shipping, and reverse logistics – all tailored to your individual business needs. That includes access to advanced technology and tracking, warehouse management software, and much more.

Large Labor Pool

New Jersey is a great location for warehousing and logistics, with a large local population and large industrial parks. That means your 3PL New Jersey provider will always have people on hand to keep up with your needs as you scale up and down throughout the year.

We invested in 100+ warehouses to give you all the advantages of a worldwide logistics network.

Top Considerations When Looking for a 3PL New Jersey Provider

eCommerce companies have diverse needs. That means there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all logistics partner. Research which local 3PL New Jersey warehouse best fits your needs, so you can build a partnership that works for the long term.

Cost Structures and Transparency

For most organizations, outsourced logistics is a more frugal investment than building the same infrastructure in-house. Your 3PL should be able to provide warehousing, freight management, and expertise with cost-of-scale reductions worked in, so you pay equal or less than the same in-house. Your partner should have transparent pricing, no surprise fees, and predictable costs attached to services. Ask about pricing structure and fees upfront when looking for 3PL providers in New Jersey.

Location and Distribution Networks

Where do you import goods from, and by ship, train, or truck? Do you distribute directly to Amazon? Do you serve other geographic areas? Do you need a 3PL with a national network of warehousing and distribution centers? Understanding your requirements allows you to choose the right logistics provider for your business. Locations like Lakewood Township, Wood Ridge, Cranbury Township, Edison, and South Jersey are popular because of Amazon and Walmart. However, you should also consider national distribution needs.

Customer Support and Communication

Customer support and communication make or break a business partnership. It doesn’t matter if your 3PL New Jersey provider is in the best location if you don’t know where shipments are or how long processes take. Check for good communication and customer service as part of your selection process. In addition, looking for optimizations like real-time data, transportation management software, etc., will automate some of that communication.

Compliance and Security Measures

Consider warehouse security and compliance needs when selecting your 3PL warehouse. For example, do you need certifications? If you have refrigerated or frozen goods, cosmetics, products intended for consumption, etc., you’ll want to ensure your 3PL is licensed and certified appropriately.

Services Offered

The volume of direct eCommerce orders we receive can make it difficult for some of our other partners to prioritize FBA builds. It could take 7 to 10 days just for items to be ready for pickup by Amazon. With MyFBAPrep, it takes two, maybe three days to prep and pick up.

Does Your Business Need a 3PL?

If your eCommerce business is growing, keeping up with logistics can be challenging. Most startups begin with little to no infrastructure in place. As you scale, you’ll be forced to either build that infrastructure in-house or to leverage external third-party service providers.

With the right logistics partner, you can access professional infrastructure to warehouse, receive, package, manage, and distribute goods across your network. A 3PL invests in logistics as a core service, meaning it can reduce costs with economies of scale while delivering software and tooling your business would be hard-pressed to invest in. Consider partnering with a 3PL if:

• You’re shipping 10-20+ orders a day. At this level, you can optimize for efficiency and save on costs with automation, economies of scale, and smart software.
• Your current logistics setup can’t handle seasonal surges and peaks, and you struggle to find seasonal labor. A 3PL can reduce your worries around scaling for peak.
• You need more warehousing capacity but don’t want to tie up capital, especially in a high-demand real estate location like New Jersey.
• You want risk reduction for supply chain outages. A 3PL network can create redundancies more than your in-house solution, and make your supply chain more resilient.
• Your organization could benefit from automation for inventory and warehouse management, but finding and purchasing this tooling requires capital that’s better spent on inventory.
• You have a high error rate when it comes to shipping and labeling. An experienced 3PL has processes in place to reduce errors and optimize for accuracy.

Difference Between 3PL Providers and Logistics Companies

“3PL” and “logistics company” are often used interchangeably. However, they are distinct in that a 3PL provider normally offers a range of in-depth supply chain and logistics services including warehousing, inventory management, order fulfillment, transportation and software. On the other hand, a logistics company traditionally focuses on a single part of your supply chain, such as transportation.

• Warehousing – Logistics companies may provide warehousing but normally only as an intermediary, with pre-packaged goods that are picked and ready to ship. The 3PL will provide warehouse management, sorting, pick and pack, and the like.
• Transportation – Both 3PLs and logistics companies offer goods transportation. The 3PL may offer the additional service of distribution and planned distribution across a network for you. The logistics company will typically only offer planned shipments and cargo movement. Both can offer route planning, load optimization, tracking services, and freight forwarding.
• Order fulfillment – Your 3PL may offer pick and pack, last mile delivery, reduced costs with shipping carriers, and direct shipping carrier labeling and in some cases direct-to-consumer delivery with an own-fleet. Your logistics company may offer last-mile delivery and direct-to-consumer delivery with an own-fleet.
• Supply chain optimization – Most 3PL offer some form of supply chain optimization services, including software, expertise, and long-term management to reduce costs/improve efficiencies. Logistics companies usually do not offer this.
• Specialized services – Your 3PL may offer a number of specialized services such as bundling, kitting, customs brokerage, and packaging. Your logistics company will only offer these services if part of their core offerings.

In short, a 3PL is a full-service solution that offers everything you need for logistics. A logistics company normally offers one part of that service.
