TikTok Takes on Amazon: “Deals For You Days” To Launch One Week Before Prime Day (Inc)
TikTok announced the sale immediately after Amazon revealed the date of its next Prime Day sales, beginning July 16. The social media site’s sale will include “trending fashion and beauty products, backyard entertainment essentials and decor, and summer reading bestsellers,” according to the release — which sounds a lot like a list of things you’d find on sale at Amazon.

Amazon Takes a New Brick-and-Mortar Approach with a Stake in Neiman Marcus (Engadget)
Amazon changed the face of retail over the last 20 years but has failed miserably to make inroads in the luxury goods market. Now, it’s trying something new. The online retailer has purchased a small stake in retailer Neiman Marcus and will reportedly provide data and logistics to Neiman and its new owner, Saks Fifth Avenue. Amazon is a minority investor in the deal, which is still subject to regulatory approval.

State of Logistics 2024: Third-party logistics (3PL) (Logistics Management)
Third-party logistics (3PLs) operators are facing multiple challenges, most notably the worldwide economy, exchange rates, and overall higher costs. Rising transport and fuel costs, the tight labor market and associated costs related to retaining and hiring experienced personnel, as well as escalating price competition, all continue to put pressure on the world’s 3PL providers.

Amazon’s Asian Rival Shein Wants to be Supply Chain Giant, But Some Fear Chinese Cyber Spying Inside Global Trade Links (CNBC)
Shein’s rapid rise has led Amazon to deepen its own ties within China. CNBC recently learned that Amazon plans to launch a new section on its site dedicated to low-priced fashion and lifestyle items that will allow Chinese sellers to ship directly to U.S. consumers. In December, Amazon announced a new “innovation center” in Shenzhen, a popular technology and manufacturing hub, and it also slashed the fees it charges merchants selling clothing priced below $20.

Top 5 E-Commerce Marketplaces in 2024 (Marketplace Pulse)
Amazon, Walmart, and TikTok Shop are the three top marketplaces for U.S. brands. However, if Temu and TikTok achieve their goals this year, they will overtake Walmart in the marketplace ranking.

Amazon is the largest marketplace in the U.S., selling three times more than the rest combined. According to eMarketer and Marketplace Pulse projections, it will achieve $325 billion in sales this year. That’s sales by third-party sellers only and doesn’t include sales by Amazon as a retailer.

Amazon Surveys Sellers on ‘Fulfillment by Merchant’ Solutions (eCommmerce Bytes)
Amazon is surveying sellers who fulfill their own orders (as opposed to using Amazon fulfillment) to gather feedback on its Fulfillment by Merchant (FBM) solutions as well as programs such as Seller Fulfilled Prime and Climate Pledge Friendly. The survey measured how satisfied sellers were with such things as understanding Amazon fees and monitoring of return shipping costs.
